Butchers since 1876
A Legacy of Excellence from Oxford to Christchurch
The Timbs' butchery tradition began in Oxford, England, in 1876, founded by Samuel Timbs. This legacy crossed the globe in 1910 when Samuel’s son, Cyril, immigrated to New Zealand, eventually establishing a butchery in Whakatane by the 1930s.
The South Island Journey
The family name became a South Island icon when Ron Timbs operated in Heathcote for 25 years. His son, Peter Timbs, continued the craft, opening his first shop in Cashmere in 1978 before launching the landmark Edgeware Road store 18 years later. In 1999, Peter’s son Chris took the helm, bringing world-class expertise from his training in Kulmbach, Germany, to ensure every sausage, bacon, and smallgood remains award-winning.
